We offer volunteers opportunities to:

1. Get connected to what is happening in another part of the world
2. Improve the quality of life for the people living there
3. Apply technical expertise in a visible, hands-on way that is deeply appreciated
4. Learn, problem solve, and build new skills throughout the process

Sextant uses the “volunteer vacations” model.  We work hard with our volunteers to find the right balance between out of pocket costs, and providing a real world, community benefit experience.  We don’t have a formula but if you have the skills, we’d love to hear from you.

"I don’t think there’s any technical expertise required to go on a trip. I think it is more about a willingness to go and a willingness to learn...I think if you’re willing to work, Jeff will find a way for you to work and will guide you and you will be useful and you won’t feel like you are in the way because you don’t know some particular piece of information. Sextant has lots of resources and links to videos to help prepare you, but this isn’t a matter of being a technical expert. You will learn by doing, and that is actually the best way to learn these things."
